I am a freelance Artist & Illustrator living and working in the South East of England. I studied at the Kent Institute of Art and Design and went on to work within a graphic design team at a London fashion house, before following my love for illustration.
I find beauty in small things, particularly in nature. I spend a lot of time at the coast and walking in the forest with my dog. I also love exploring the nearby castles. I have a passion for history and I am inspired by old things such as; buildings, artefacts, paintings, fossils and people. Anything that is old has a history and a story to tell, and I believe stories are the foundation of our imagination.
Making up stories comes easily to me, one of my favourite times of the day is story time with my children, there are infinite adventures in my head. I also enjoy making art like a child, creating marks and textures and joyful play. The naivety to my work is definitely inspired by them and the memories I have from childhood.
Early influences were from the picture books I read in my youth, and the illustrations that captivated me such as; Roald Dahl and Quentin Blake, Judith Kerr, Eric Carle, Brian Wildsmith and Shirley Hughes.
At art school I discovered the great impressionists and expressionists and I was captivated by their expressive marks, shapes and use of colour. I love to visit the National Gallery in London, and to sit and sketch and feel the energy from the paintings.
I am also a qualified Complementary and Nutritional therapist, I have a keen interest in health and enjoy all things that encourage mindful wellbeing.
My work has been exhibited at The New Kent Gallery in Broadstairs and at the Rye Gallery, Kent.
I have also had my work published in the 'Uppercase' magazine July/August / September 2018 edition and, in 2019 my work was published in both 'Brightness' Magazine Spring edition and in the 'Grow' magazine Summer edition.
I also run a busy Etsy shop and sell prints, cards and fine art.
I accept licensing, commission and collaboration enquiries.
